Abstract

Deep overbite is considered as one of the most common malocclusion that is difficult to treat and retain. Usually deep overbite is corrected by using different types of intrusion archwires. It is assumed, that intrusion archwires could provide intrusion of frontal teeth, thereby correcting deep overbite. However, it is vital to consider biomechanics of teeth movement while using intrusion arches to avoid undesirable side effects. In this article, we evaluate the influence on lower frontal teeth the most commonly used intrusion archwire – reverse curve archwire.

Abstract

The software for automatic modeling and reconstruction of dental arches according to the parameters of the craniofacial complex «Dental Arch» is described. The program is an auxiliary tool in the diagnosis and treatment planning for orthodontists and orthopedists. Various possibilities of the program for the tasks of different specialties of dental profile are presented. The basic principles of this product and the main differences from similar inventions are indicated.

Abstract

In this study, we evaluated the thickness of bone tissue in the region of the infrazygomatic crest at the level of teeth 1.7, 2.7 in 10 projections according to CBCT data obtained using Pax-i3D 10x8.5 (Smart). The potential area has been identified for insertion of miniscrews to create a stable skeletal anchorage during orthodontic treatment.

Abstract

A new generation of hybrid telescopic devices is used together with bracket system in treatment of patiens with Class II caused by retroposition of mandible during the period of active growth of the facial skull bones. Information about this treatment method in patients of older group is sporadic. The aim of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effect of using hybrid telescopic devices in adult patients. 32 patients with Class II at age of 17-26 years underwent X-ray EMG, kinesiography examination before and after treatment.

Conclusions. Fixation of mandible with use of telescopic devices in new therapeutic position facilitated counterclockwise rotation of mandible. This made it possible to normalize occlusion, improve the functional state of TMJ and maxillofacial muscles. Improvement in the function of dento-facial system was confirmed by changes in the mandible movements in various planes. Obtained results allows to use this functional devices in treatment in Class II patients after the end of puberty.

Abstract

The article presents an improved method of early orthodontic treatment of children using "Dental obturator for orthodontic treatment of children with congenital complete bilateral cleft lip and palate". It helps to prevent secondary deformation of the intermaxillary bone and fragments of the upper jaw. The period of children hospitalization in the maternity hospital as well as the time of operation is reduced due to the use of this device. Child care at home is also facilitated.

Abstract

The purpose of our study was to analyze the long-term results of orthodontic treatment based on patient questionnaires to evaluate the results of therapy and the possibility of improving the effectiveness of orthodontic correction. The study revealed shortcomings of diagnostic manipulations at the stages of orthodontic correction, insufficient compliance and lack of awareness of patients with the features of wearing retainers during the retention period, early termination of orthodontic treatment, on the basis of which the authors set out practical recommendations to improve the quality of therapy provided.
