Abstract

The condition and the level of development of modern orthodontics highly depends not only on the state of the legal framework, the material and technical equipment of medical organizations, but also on the level of training and professional competence of orthodontists and dental technicians. Lagging at the professional and technological levels leads to a decrease in the quality of orthodontic care provided to the population

Abstract

Increased abrasion of teeth is one of forms of tooth damage observed in 4% - 50% of the young population and increases every year. Most experts recognize increased abrasion as a polyetiological disease, one of the causes of which is occlusion anomalies. The study is devoted to identifying the relationship between the violation of the width of the dentition and the area of erasure.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to study the possibilities of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in a cross-sectional study to assess the frequency of "unexpected finds" and their nature.Unexpected findings occur in 81.7% of cases during cone-beam computer diagnostics. Most often, random findings are localized directly in the oral cavity (61.5% of all detected pathologies) and the respiratory tract (28.8%), while they are clinically and prognostically significant.

Abstract

The infl uence of the position and morphology of the bones of the base of the skull on the formation of the facial skull is still insufficiently studied. We examined the sphenoid, the maxilla and position of the upper teeth using cone-beam computed tomography. Correlation analysis confi rmed the connection between morphology and position of the sphenoid bone and position and morphology of the maxilla, as well as teeth inclination.

Abstract

The data of the results of the analysis of the examined group of dental patients with a missing permanent tooth in the anterior region of the upper and lower jaws are presented. Revealed a pattern, the consequence of which was hyperdontia. Having determined the clinical disorders of the eruption of permanent teeth, as well as the violation of the symmetry and parity of the eruption, it is possible to assume the presence of a supernumerary tooth, based on an X-ray examination, thereby preventing the development of dentoalveolar anomalies in the future

Abstract

In dental practice, there is a need to take into account the presence of concomitant general somatic diseases in each patient. The severity and duration of common diseases directly affects the success of dental treatment. One of the most severe somatic diseases is diabetes mellitus.
In many countries of the world, a special role is given in organizing care for patients with type II diabetes mellitus, however, in dental practice during the treatment of such patients, standard hygiene methods are mainly used that are ineffective. This problem is relevant: today there is a need to improve the means and methods of individual oral hygiene for such patients; there is a need to include a dental examination in the endocrinological treatment plan; there is a growing need to strengthen the motivation of patients with diabetes mellitus type II, to maintain good oral hygiene.
The aim of the study is to reduce the inflammatory process in the periodontal tissues in patients with type II diabetes mellitus.
The objective of the study is to assess the effect of the developed agent on the number of microorganisms isolated from the fluid of the periodontal sulcus in patients with type II diabetes

Abstract

Currently, the main regulatory documents that govern the rates of time and material consumption in the manufacture of removable orthodontic appliances are approved by Order of the USSR Ministry of Health dated 10.28.1987 No. 1156 and Order of the USSR Ministry of Health "On measures to further improve dental care for the population" dated 12.06. 1984 No. 670 respectively. The presented norms refer to the Soviet period and do not take into account changes in materials and the method of manufacturing modern orthodontic appliances. In view of the active development and implementation of modern technologies in the practice of an orthodontist and a dental technician, they require refi ning and update.

Abstract

In modern dentistry, an important place is occupied by a comprehensive approach to orthodontic treatment. When correcting the pathology of occlusion, it is important not only to correct the position of the teeth and correct the occlusion, but also to affect the muscle structures. Our study shows changes in the indicators of bioelectric activity of muscles during orthodontic treatment. The goal is to determine the relationship between the presence of myofunctional disorders and the pathology of occlusion. Research material – 60 people 9-12 years old, with occlusion pathology. Research methods - studied indices of muscular activity at carrying out specific tests using electromyograph "Synapsis". In the present study, patients performed tests for the superficial temporal and masticatory muscle groups. The results of the study showed a decrease in the indicators of bioelectric activity of the superficial temporal and masticatory muscle groups, restoration of symmetry of their work

Abstract

Background: Controlled space closure in cases of isolated lower second premolar aplasia (ILSPA) without maxillary counterbalancing extraction is challenging. Anterior anchorage loss may occur during space closure resulting in compromised occlusal results in terms of an absence of proper canine guidance during laterotrusive mandible movements.
In order to evaluate the effectiveness of Herbst telescope anchorage in combination with doublecable, pull mechanics and a completely customized lingual appliance for orthodontic space management in cases of ILSPA, we tested the null hypothesis that there is a signifi cant deterioration in the sagittal canine relationship towards an Angle-Class-II occlusion expressed as a loss of anterior anchorage following space closure with molar mesialization.
Methods: Twenty-fi ve consecutively de-bonded subjects (female / male 17/8;aged at T0 (start of MB Tx) 12.3 to 20.6 years; mean age 15.0 / SD 1.7 years) were included in this retrospective analysis using the inclusion criteria of least of one lower second premolar aplasia; completed treatment with a totally customized lingual appliance (CCLA) in combination with Herbst telescopes. Exclusion criteria were the absence of counterbalancing maxillary extractions, as well as additional tooth aplasia other than lower second premolars. A total of 33 single, lower premolar aplasia space closures (right / left sided 17/16)were assessed using plaster casts and intra-oral photographs scaled to the plaster casts, at bonding (T0),
Herbst insertion (T1), following gap closure (T2) and de-bonding (T3). Parallelism of roots was controlled by panoramic x-rays at T3.
Results: The mean aplasia space at T0 was 7.5 mm (SD 2.6). Complete space closure was achieved in all 33 situations. The null hypothesis was rejected. There was a signifi cant improvement in the initial canine relationships (mean 3.5 mm distal occlusion at T0) to a mean 0.1 mm at T3. When evaluated against the individual treatment plan, the following amounts of planned improvements were achieved: space closure 100%, canine relationship 97.5%, overjet 93.9%, overbite 96.4%, parallel roots in space closure site 93.9%.
Conclusion: Herbst telescope anchorage in combination with double-cable pull mechanics and a CCLA for orthodontic space closure can deliver predictable, high-quality treatment results
