Abstract

The article presents a review of foreign literature on the manifestations of COVID-19 in the oral cavity. Coronavirus infection affects many systems and organs. The oral cavity is no exception. Knowing the symptoms and manifestations will help to identify the disease at an early stage and prevent the origination of complications. The detection of oral infection in asymptomatic COVID-19 patients emphasizes the importance of clinical dental examination. Hyposalivation and the loss of taste can be early symptoms of COVID-19 and can be diagnosed before the dry cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, fever, and other typical symptoms.

Abstract

A new program for determining the direction of the occlusal line of the upper and lower dentition is proposedin this article. In individuals with physiological occlusion the direction of the occlusal line is determined this way:the reference points in the area of the fi rst molars and incisors are taken as a basis, namely: the point of closing of the fi rst molars of the upper and lower dental arches (mesial – buccal tubercle of the fi rst upper molar and the intercumbular fi ssure of the fi rst lower molar) and the point of closing of the incisors of the upper and lower dental arches (cutting the edge of the lower central incisor and the depression (fossa) in the region of the palatal surface of the upper central incisor. The direction of the occlusal line is determined by the angular value LP formed at the intersection of NLP-OCL.

Abstract

Early lossof deciduous teeth has signifi cant infl uence on dentoalveolar system, which expresses in a decrease of the length of dental arches, movement of intraosseous follicles of permanent teeth and violation of their correct position in the dental arch during their eruption, lagging behind in the growth of the alveolar processes/parts of the jaw, chewing disorders which lead to temporomandibular joints diseases and gastrointestinal tract diseases. The presence of the signifi cant pathological processes indicates the necessity for prosthetic treatment in childhood, identifi cation of the early temporary teeth loss and development of new methods of implementing dentures.

Abstract

Tooth wear is a common problem of modern clinical dentistry, but the effectiveness of treatment is quite low. Elastic bands (kinesiotapes) could be a fundamentally new treatment method of patients with tooth wear, providing pain relief and masticatory muscles relaxation due to gentle functioning condition.

Abstract

Based on the results of the dental system screening survey andBrux Checker, both before and after osteopathic correction of patients in theretentional period, the effi cacy of the procedures of the osteopath, treating thesepatients, was studied. The Brux Checker analysis of patients before and after theosteopathy procedures indicates a change in the nature of the occlusion regimentowards the increase in the number of occlusal contacts after the session of osteopathy. Theresults of the study suggest that osteopathic support is possible as an auxiliaryelement in the retentional period of orthodontic patients.

Abstract

The article provides an example of the treatment of a clinical case of a 9-year-old patient during mixed dentition. The main complaint was the incorrect position of the canine tooth on the upper jaw on the right. Using cone-beam computed tomographythe direction of tooth growth was determined, and complete bilateral transposition of canines and premolars on the upper jaw was detected. The patient's desire was to perform orthodontic treatment without tooth extraction. The original position of the teeth and the teamwork of the orthodontist with related specialists should be considered to treat the dental transposition successfully.
