The control of lower incisors’ inclination as an important stage of orthodontic treatment

Abstract

The article describes the possible causes of wrong tooth inclination during orthodontic treatment and clinical ways of solving these situations. The methods of diagnostics are presented that allow making the right decision when planning the treatment of patients with mandibular anterior crowding. A clinical case is presented with the use of a basic Utility arch to control the vestibulo-oral inclination of lower incisors while resolving crowding during and correcting the Spee curve.

The aims of the article are to systemize the reasons of the wrong tooth inclination during orthodontic treatment, explain diagnostic methods that will help to make a right treatment plan of resolving mandibular anterior crowding, explain biomechanics of basic Utility arch.
