A clinical case report on the treatment of an impacted second molar with a retained third molar

Abstract

This article presents a case study of a 21-year-old patient who had an impacted lower second molar and a retained third molar. The patient was treated by having the retained molar removed and the impacted tooth exposed. With consistent application of a removable appliance and braces, the proposed method to forced eruption of the vertically impacted lower second molar has shown good results. The orthodontic treatment lasted 20 months.
